We are all different aren’t we? Different heights, different length of legs, weight! That’s why we BESPOKE each and every chair because you are unique
STEP 1 We get the chassis of the chair right.
- Height of the chair – we measure the calf length from ankle to knee. This helps when the chair is reclined the ankle is supported and no pressure is put onto the calf. This helps prevent pins & needles, cramp or circulation issues.
- Depth of the chair – often the length of the thigh. This is to make sure the lumber of the back is tight to the back support cushion and the seat cushion is supporting the back of the knee. This helps prevent, back issues, spinal issues, circulation issue due to the knee not being supported.
- Seat width – this is for comfort. We need the chair to fit snug but not to put pressure on the hips.
- Back height – we measure from the seat cushion to the nape of the neck. This measurement is important if you have back issues, neck, spinal or vertebrae problems. We also have a lateral support cushion (that was invented by us and copied by all of our competitors) which helps prevent slouching which contorts and puts pressure on the spine.
- Bum support – what’s your weight? It’s important because we all have different amounts of natural padding on our bums. Does it need to be pressure relieving? Pocket sprung? Remember we sit on our buttocks for up to 12 hours a day, it needs to be comfortable. That’s why we ask you your weight! Sorry ladies!
Step 2 You choose your arm design.
- We have 4 to choose, we need to make the chair fit your present furniture, décor etc….
- What height would you like the arms? Do you read? Do you knit? We make it correct for you.
Step 3 You choose your Back Design
This doesn’t sound important, but it is! Do you slouch? Do you have vertebrae problem? Do have neck problems? Have you recently had your hips replaced? We have 4 to choose from
Lateral Support Back – What can we say! We designed the original Lateral back, it works, and the back helps keep the spine straight, which in turn takes the pressure off the spinal column and sciatic nerve. Lateral support cushions can help you maintain a more upright position. This can be useful for people with weak posture who may tend to lean to one side when sitting.

Waterfall Back – These provide tiered layers of padding in three separate pillows that cascade down the back of the chair. Usually, each pillow is zipped so you can open and adjust the filling to suit your requirements.
Note: waterfall backs provide a softer sitting experience than a pillow or button back.
Pillow Back- The simplest is a standard. You can get firm or soft backs, depending on the amount of padding used.
Note: We use this if lateral is not comfy or our hips are too wide
Button Back - The simplest is a standard or button back (standard with button pattern). You can get firm or soft backs, depending on the amount of padding used.
Note: Think Chesterfield Suite - they look good! Not the best for back issues
How You Rise and Recline!
All riser recliner chairs follow a similar movement cycle, from standing to upright (sitting) and then back to full recline with leg elevation, and back again. However that does have very contrasting movements

Tilt in space
This is a reclining action is where, instead of the backrest separating from the seat (and so creating a gap), the whole chair simply tips backwards while maintaining a seating position. It doesn't rub or shear the skin on your back as you move. You can elevate your legs above your hips, so it’s useful for those with poor leg circulation or edema (leg swelling) it’s suitable for anyone with back or neck problems, or those with poor trunk control, because the back and pelvis are supported throughout.
Other Chair Options
Reclining chairs with a single motor provide one combined riser and recline action. On recline, the footrest automatically rises to support your legs - normally to an angle of 45 degrees, as this is considered comfortable for watching TV. Negative: this puts pressure on the hips and central core and if you continue to the chairs full extent, it will lay you flat like a bed.
Chairs with two motors (dual-motor chairs) let you operate the back and footrest independently of each other so you have greater flexibility with your positioning. For example, you can sit upright and choose not to have your legs fully elevated
If you're short on space, this is a good option. Instead of reclining backwards, the wall hugger moves forward as it reclines. This means you can position the chair in a small room( about 10cm/4in away from the wall). Of course, wall-hugging riser recliners do need more space in front.
